Bush the Benevolent !?!?!? I say it is so.
Inside source are confirming that The Decider has decided to bestow an additional day of paid leave to all federal employees this calendar year as a parting gift. An extra day off around the Christmas Holiday will be granted. Now this is a decision that I am comfortable with letting Bush make. Let’s give Bush a hand!
But should we be so fast, here in proclaiming the Benevolence of Bush?
Arguably this is one of George Bush’s finer moments as President. Closer look, however, shows that while Bush has shown generosity to the nameless faceless bureaucracy with his open hand, at the same time, with his closed hand, he taketh away. The closed hand, being his Executive Order to strip hard working federal employees of employments rights such as the right to bargain collectively over wages, benefits and other conditions of employment, shall we say, is a different parting gift to the bureaucracy.
But since this is the Christmas Season, or what the Whitehouse refers to as the Holiday Season, I’m going to give The Decider a pat on the back and add this extra paid day off of Holiday Cheer to the list of Stunning Accomplishments of George W Bush.
