Smokey Joe Endorses Gingrich for .....President

I am not sure whether Smokey Joe Barton is crazy, a lackey for Oil Companies or both. But I am pretty sure he screwed up here by being the first congressman to endorse Newt Gingrich for president. Surely this is a crazy act, though.

Joe Barton (R-Texas) endorsed former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) for president last week.

Barton is the first lawmaker to publicly endorse the former Speaker. The Texas lawmaker, a former chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, is in his 14th term and served in Congress with Speaker Gingrich.

“I think he’d be a great president. I have talked to him already and promised to help in his campaign and endorse him, if he thinks it helps his campaign,” Barton said on C-SPAN’s "Washington Journal."

[…]

Barton described Gingrich as “an ideas man.”

“He’s battle-tested. He’s had the third most powerful office, and some could say the second most powerful office, in America, as the Speaker of the House. So he knows the issues,” Barton said.

“I could easily see him sitting in the Oval Office being president of the United State for all American citizens,” Barton added.

Smokey Joe totally botched this endorsement. Let me tell you why.

Like the Moon Landing People, and the Birthers and Truthers, Barton has the inside dope on a vast conspiracy theory that the rest of us have fallen for. He is a global warming denialist...actually he believes in Global Cooling Theory instead, but that is a story for another day.

Here is how the global warming conspiracy works. According to Barton, evidence of melting ice caps is part of a big hoax being perpetrated by tricksy super-scientists. These Uber-scientists first indoctrinate the less talented scientists with their mumbo-jumbo. Then the lesser scientistists unknowingly indoctrinate the general public. A big Conspiracy you see…..that you and me have bought hook line and sinker.

Newt, unlike Smokey Joe, has publicly endorsed the settled consensus on climate change, thus falling victim to the conspiracy. Perhaps Newt was brainwashed by the tricksy scientists. And if this is the case, he certainly isn’t fit to be sitting in the Oval Office.

In any event, I think Barton should reconsider his support. I think Judge Roy Moore is more in line with Smokey Joe's views here.

He's Probably got the hang of it by now. So give'em another chance. And with the Supreme Court and the good Lord on his side, why not give it a try. Write in Bush.
